Health & Safety Test
About the test
The test is computer based, using a mouse or touch screen technology. The questions are multiple choice. The core test consists of 40 questions to be answered in 45 minutes – specialist categories have 50 questions to be answered in 60 minutes.
All the questions are taken from an approved selection covering topics such as site hazards, working at height, using dangerous substances and understanding warning signs.

Booking the test
For a one-off booking you can either book the Health & Safety Test online or call the ConstructionSkills information and booking line on 0870 600 4020.
- When you book, you’ll need a credit or debit card and either your NI number or ConstructionSkills registration number.
- The test costs from £17.50 (registered firms can claim £17.50 grant for a test pass).
Group bookings – if you have at least 16 people taking the test at one time, you can arrange for the mobile testing unit to be brought to a location of your choice (as long as it’s large enough for the vehicle to gain access) by calling the Corporate Health and Safety Test Booking line on 0161 868 9255.
