A Note from the Chairman
Since the inception of the Group in 1998, it has held to one simple goal, that of delivering effective training at a competitive rate to local companies. The Group has grown considerably since then but the goal is still the same, only now I feel that we are in a position to achieve this.
The focus of the Group is to assist member companies in achieving their objectives, whether it is by sourcing and delivering training or providing advice and guidance, the structure that we have put into place over the past 2 years, allows us to provide this.
The services now offered by the Group have increased significantly since we gained independent training group status in 2003; rather than just training, we now offer support and guidance on a growing number of business and construction issues. This coupled with the employment of a Group Training Officer and Secretary now enables us to offer a unique dedicated service to the industry in Northamptonshire.
The construction industry is currently in recession, many businesses are finding it difficult to cope with the additional pressures that a recession brings. Figures produced in June 2009 forecast a continued drop in construction output until the end of 2010. Thankfully they then predict an upturn of around 2.1% going forward to 2014. The east of England and East Midlands are forecast to rise by between 2.5% and 3.5% in this period, so our local employers are well placed for growth once we begin the rise from recession.
To be best placed to meet these challenges, businesses need a highly skilled
and motivated workforce, with an investment in training and recruitment
forming a part of this. NCTG is here to offer support to our member companies
through these difficult times, and look forward to working with you to provide
a successful local construction industry.
