Aims & Objectives
NCTG aims to:
- Encourage members to meet the objectives of the industry and the ConstructionSkills,
by promoting safe working practices, within the construction industry
in Northamptonshire, through the provision of high-quality cost-effective
training courses
- Reduce the cost of training for members, by virtue of ‘bulk purchasing
power’ and the independent, non-profit making status of the group
- Provide support and services to members; assist with all aspects of
training, including working with companies to clarify their particular
training needs, arranging training courses, advising on grant claims,
and so on
- Identify and book training courses which offer the highest quality of
training at the lowest prices—includes providing administrative
support to the smaller company who does not have the time or resources
to manage training in-house
- Generate a training culture within the county, in order to promote health
and safety best practice, and reduce accidents and injuries
- Encourage members to develop their workforce through On-Site Assessment
Training (OSAT), Construction Apprentice Schemes and Investors in People
- Support the efforts of the ConstructionSkills and National Construction
College in raising the profile of construction in Northamptonshire, and
encourage the recruitment of people into the industry, by making industry-related
training more locally available
- Offer guidance and information in the development of health and safety,
environmental and equal opportunities policies
- Provide information regarding regulatory and legislation updates through
newsletters and flyers
- Provide a forum (quarterly meetings) in which construction issues, legislative
or otherwise, can be discussed locally, and facilitate networking between
members, through industry specific forums and workshops, and encourage
members to share experiences
- Work with members, training providers and local authorities to promote
the construction industry in schools
